SECTION A - 2003 ROYAL WELSH

A CALIFORNIA HAT TRICK IN WALES!

Steve and Sara Dickmeyer and their daughter, Emily, came to Builth Wells from their home in California hoping for one thing: to see one of the three Sec. A fillies they purchased last year in the U.K. "make the cut" at the Royal Welsh Show in the yearling filly class! With 97 entries, this was the largest class in the show so this was a BIG dream.

CHAMPION WELSH MOUNTAIN PONY EXHIBIT
SPRINGBOURNE ELLE

(Springbourne Caraway x Springbourne Eirian)
Mr. and Mrs. S. Perrins, Owners
Mr. William Perrins, Handler

Springbourne Elle, an eleven year old, and Will Perrins, a twelve year old, achieved a great deal at the 2003 Royal Welsh.

They won their class. They won the female Championship. They won the Welsh Mountain Pony Championship. Then Elle was named Winner of the Tom and Sprightly Cup for the best Welsh Pony or Cob exhibit in the show. William brought Elle into the very first Welsh class of the show and won the ROYAL WELSH YOUNG HANDLER title!

Lastly they went up against the Champions from all the other light horse breeds and were named RESERVE in the RWAS SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP and the CUDDY SUPREME IN-HAND QUALIFIER FOR THE HORSE OF THE YEAR COMPETITION. There were over 2000 light horse animals at the Royal Welsh this year and only ONE beat Elle and William.
