WERE 632 SEC. A ENTRIES, 232 SEC. B, 329 SEC. C AND 500 SEC. D. THE JUDGES WERE SEC. A MRS. J. PRICE,
COURTWAYS; SEC. B MRS. KATHLEEN JAMES; SEC. C MR. BRYNLE WILLIAMS; SEC. D MR. PETER JONES.
NEWS FLASH Springbourne Elle and her twelve year old handler, William Perrins won the Tom and Sprightly
at the Royal Welsh! This makes them the overall Champion (Supreme) of the four Welsh Sections.
The handler also won the Young Handler's Competition. In addition, Young Mr. Perrins showed his
mare to Reserve in the CUDDY SUPREME IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING COMPETITION AND THE ROYAL WELSH
SUPREME IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP. These two competitions include all Welsh Sections, Arabs, Hunter Breeding
, Riding Ponies Breeding, Welsh Part-Bred, Shetlands and Palominos! Only the Riding Pony placed ahead

Welsh performance animals were very prominent at this year's Royal Welsh. The Ridden Mountain and
Moorland classes (qualifiers for the Pony of the Year competition) were amazing. For the Sec. C and Sec. D
combined class there were 112 entries with almost 70 actually showing up to compete. The Sec. A and Sec. B
class had 58 entries. The Welsh ridden classes were impressive: 43 in Leading Rein; 33 in First Ridden, Welsh Cob
Stallion - 4 to 7 years old - 12; Welsh Cob Stallion 8 & over - 21; Welsh Cob Mare 4-7 - 33; Welsh Cob
Mare 8 & over 32; Sec. C any sex, four to seven years old 25; Sec. C 8 & over, any sex - 21; Welsh Cob
Gelding 4-7 29; Welsh Cob Gelding 8 & over 42! ..in all, there were two hundred fifteen animals
entered in the C and D under saddle classes. These classes, as well as the Mtn. and Moorland Welsh
classes are open only to purebred animals registered in the stud book.
