![]() *Sleight of Hand won the first Legion of Merit awarded. It was a Sire Award which requires that a stallion's get win a total of 2500 points in specified classes at WPCSA shows. Also there must be at least five of his individual children with 300 points each. So far (by the end of 2006 and 20 years of the Legion of Merit program) only twenty-five Welsh stallions of all Sections have achieved this status. At the close of 2006, *SLEIGHT OF HAND HAS OVER 80,000 POINTS AND 58 INDIVIDUAL GET WITH MORE THAN 300 POINTS EACH. He received the first Award of Excellence and the ultimate show ring accolade THE ORDER OF THE DRAGON at the 2000 AGM in February 2001. In February 2004 he received his second ORDER OF THE DRAGON. His third came in 2005. And his points passed the 75,000 mark for his FOURTH Order of the Dragon early in 2007! |

![]() *Sleight of Hand was Supreme Champion (all sections) of the American National Welsh Shows of 1988, 1991 and 1997. No other pony or cob has won this honor three times since the first American National Welsh Show was held in 1977. Although lightly shown, Sleight won many other Supreme titles at major shows and even got some good ribbons in adult english pleasure and western pleasure and a Pleasure Driving Championship at Tulsa the only time he competed in that division. One Daughter and one Granddaughter have also been Supreme at American National Shows in 2003 and 2006. |
![]() Perhaps Sleight's disposition is his greatest asset. At home he is quiet and any child is perfectly safe around him. He is kind to his mares to a fault and has to be separated from them to eat as he will politely yield his feed to them. He is intelligent and willing. At a show, it has been said that he grows two inches as he enters the gate and he really behaves as he if understands it is a SHOW! His ground-covering trot, ears forward, hocks driving, shoulders reaching, is thrilling to watch. |

![]() At 13 hands, Sleight has an unmistakably Welsh head with tiny ears, big eyes, wide forehead and classic shape. His shoulders are very well laid back, legs long in the forearm and above the hocks, low to the ground below with good flat bone in abundance. His feet are strong and hard. Sleight is very much a PONY in appearance and could never be mistaken for any other breed or crossbred. |
![]() Ponies with pedigrees tracing to *Sleight of Hand have won almost every WPCSA award available including High Score awards in almost all divisions, Supreme Championships of major shows, AHSA Horse of the Year Green Pony Hunter titles, Overall Green at the Pony Hunter Finals, AHSA Horse of the Year Small Pony Hunter Championships, driving Championships and Thirteen Individual Legion of Merit awards (of 66 given). A Grandson, Flying Diamond the Bailef even starred in the Extreme Cowboy Race competitions. Of 38 mares receiving a Dam Legion of Merit thus far TWELVE did so with get of *Sleight of Hand and one of his daughters also has a Dam LOM and AOE. One Hundred and Thirty-nine of Sleight's sons and daughters have show ring points. |

![]() Foaled in 1981, *Sleight is no longer offered at public stud. He is the sire of the only two A.I./E.T. foals registered with the WPCSA and possibly the only purebred Welsh in the world with this distinction. |
![]() Sleight retired from the show ring after his third Supreme at an American National Welsh Show at the age of 16. Although age is creeping up on him, his personality and kindness are as much a part of him as his beauty. We sometimes offer sons and daughters for sale. His offspring number near 200 and his descendents would be hard to enumerate, but he's still siring future Champions and brightening up pastures at Gayfields. Sleight of Hand will always be our all-time favorite pony. |
